Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. Monitor changes in regulations and update company policies and procedures accordingly.
- EHS Programs: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses. Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Training and Education: Design g EHS training sessions for employees at all levels, including new hire orientation, annual refresher courses, and conduct specialized training as needed.
- Audits and Inspections: Perform regular EHS audits and inspections of the facility to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and verify the effectiveness of safety measures.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and job safety analyses (JSAs) to identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures. Coordinate and conduct emergency drills and exercises.
- Corporate Reporting: Prepare and present EHS performance reports to corporate leadership. Track and analyze EHS metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Environmental Reporting: Manage all required environmental reports for the DeKalb plant, including federal, state, and local submissions. Ensure timely, accurate preparation and submittal of permits, emissions inventories, waste manifests, water discharge reports, and other compliance documents. Maintain organized records and act as the primary liaison with environmental regulatory agencies.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Support environmental sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, energy conservation, and pollution prevention programs.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with site operations, maintenance, and corporate teams to promote a proactive safety culture and ensure EHS integration into business processes.
- Workers' Compensation Management:
- Claim Management: Oversee the management of worker compensation claims from initiation through resolution.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain oversight to ensure detailed and confidential records of all workers' compensation claims. Maintain OSHA 300 logs for all domestic sites within CST.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations. Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards is a plus.
- Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in EHS management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and drive change across all levels of the organization.
- The role is primarily in an industrial manufacturing facility exposed to various environmental conditions.
- Occasional travel to other company sites and corporate headquarters may be required.
