The Opportunity
Are you a structural expert ready to move beyond the calculations and into a role that defines how projects are managed? CST Engineering, Inc. is looking for a Project Engineer – Structures to lead high-priority bridge and roadway structure projects.
This is a senior-level position designed for a Maryland PE who values autonomy and is looking for a clear path to management opportunities. You will lead the design and analysis of critical infrastructure—from bridges to retaining walls—while helping shape the firm’s project management standards.
The Impact You’ll Make
- Structural Leadership: Lead the design and analysis for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and noise barriers using LARS Bridge, AASHTOWare, and Staad.Pro.
- Safety Oversight: Utilize your NHI130055 certification to ensure the integrity of in-service bridges.
- Full Lifecycle Management: Manage the business side of engineering, including scoping, technical proposals, resource allocation, and budgeting.
- Strategic Growth: Act as a key liaison with MDOT SHA/MDTA, ensuring all deliverables meet their rigorous standards and guidelines.
The Toolkit (Requirements)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- License: Licensed Maryland Professional Engineer (PE).
- Experience: 7 years in structural engineering design and analysis for roadway structures.
- Certifications: Completion of NHI130055 – Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (or approved equivalent).
- Software Mastery: High proficiency in MicroStation, LARS Bridge, and AASHTOWare.
- Management Skills: Proven ability to manage project budgets and draft technical proposals.
The Extras (Preferred)
- Familiarity with VA (VDOT) and DC (DDOT) jurisdictional standards.
- Experience conducting condition inspections for bridges and ancillary structures.
- Additional NHI certifications for structure inspections.
- A desire to mentor junior staff and build a high-performing structural team.
