Specific information and problem solving will be covered in the new employee orientation, as well as ongoing training and supervision.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Certified Reading Specialist.
  • Certification in Elementary or Secondary Education.
  • A minimum of one year’s experience working with students who have emotional and educational difficulties.
  • Experience in residential treatment, mental health and formal training facilitation required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) is also required.

 

General:

 

  • Be familiar with and adhere to the philosophy, policies, and practices of St. Francis-St. Joseph and HIPPA.
  • Adhere to the work schedule assigned by supervisor, be willing and able to meet emergency demands caused by vacations, illness, shortage of staff, etc.
  • Function as an appropriate role model for the boys in word, action, and dress.
  • Follow program procedures and routines as set by supervisor.
  • Maintain client and employee confidentiality.

 

Administrative:

 

  • Actively participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee (CQI) as assigned.
  • Modify workload to adjust to changes in the agency as agreed upon with supervisor.
  • Maintain student records and report grades quarterly.
  • Provide written documentation on critical incidents by completing Incident Reports.
  • Administer, score and write written reports on students academic functioning as scheduled by the supervisor.

 

Direct Care:

 

  • Develop and implement curriculum based upon the individualized needs of students in the content area of Reading, Math or both.
  • Maintain daily lesson plans.
  • Utilize and maintain daily point system.
  • Maintain and enforce classroom discipline; define limits in a clear concise manner.
  • Act as an appropriate role model for students.
  • Keep daily attendance record.
  • Keep program statistics required for the annual Performance report.
  • Administer, maintain, and record Interim. Title I, Standards and Assessment Provisions.
  • Maintain and supervised the use of Title I equipment report thief, damage or difficulties immediately to Title I Coordinator.

 

Team Building:

 

  • Participate positively as a member of the inter-disciplinary Bensalem Partial Hospitalization team.
  • Maintain open communication with team members and supervisors.
  • Work collaboratively with mental health staff for classroom coverage, communication and in crisis situations.
  • Follow the reporting, communication and coverage procedures for Alerts and emergencies.
  • Attend and participate as a member of the educational team in scheduled team meetings.
  • Attend all Title I meetings as directed by Title I Coordinator.
  • Participate with the educational team or special events and projects.

 

 

Professional Growth/Training:

 

  • Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions and provide documentation of all outside training.
  • Attend and be prepared for meetings with the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate motivation in setting goals for professional growth, develop an annual plan for professional development.
  • Accomplish goals from previous evaluation.
  • Integrate new knowledge and information learned at training courses into practice and share with the educational team.
