Early Intervention Instructional Assistant
Berwick, PA
Full-time position needed in early childhood classroom to perform instructional activities, as directed and supervised by classroom teacher, for special needs children ages 3-5. This classroom is located at the Berwick Children's Center in Berwick, PA.
Hourly rate is $ hour depending on qualifications working 7.5 hours per day over 185 days per year over a 12-month schedule. This is a non-exempt position offering excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance; retirement options including Pennsylvania Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS) and life insurance options.
Education And Skills Required Include
- A high school diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED).Additionally, the attainment of the Para-Educator Competency Assessment Checklist or the Child Development Associate (CDA) is required within 90 school days of employment which results in additional compensation to hourly wage when requirements are met.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to accept great cultural diversity, flexibility to accommodate a changing caseload.
- Ability to cope with stressful situations and a professional attitude are required.
- Must have ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues, co-workers, community agency personnel, and students/trainees.
- Requires the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships using tact and diplomacy and to remain calm in unpredictable situations.
