Brief Description

The Talent Acquisition Specialist will research, develop, and implement effective recruiting and staffing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent for our organization with offices Michigan, Massachusetts, Maryland and California. This is more than a just a recruiter position (non-commissioned) as this person will assist with on-boarding and work with internal staff on our succession and mentoring programs.

Essential Functions

  • Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment and on-boarding process.
  • Collaborates with department leadership to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
  • Work with the Organizational Development Coordinator in creating and implementing the position succession plan for the organization.
  • Assists with job posting and advertisement processes.
  • Assists leadership screen applications and selects qualified candidates.
  • Schedules interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.
  • Assists with the interview process, attends and conducts interviews with leadership and other stakeholders, as needed.
  • Collaborates with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Attends and participates in applicable job fairs and recruiting sessions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Work environment

  • The Talent Acquisition Specialist will generally work in an office environment.
  • Some occasional travel may be required

Physical demands

  • This position requires sitting at a desk for extended periods of time and significant amount of time on the computer and/or phone.
  • Must be able to push/pull/lift up to 30 pounds

Travel Required

  • Reliable transportation.
  • Occasional travel to job fairs on occasion.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics.
  • Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn applicant-tracking software or other recruitment systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Required Education And Experience

  • Associate’s degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required.
  • At least three years managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring process highly preferred.
  • SHRMs Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential a plus.

Work Authorization/security Clearance Requirements

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulation requires all employees—citizens, residents, and nonresidents—to complete Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification. Employees are not allowed to work in the United States until the Form I-9 is completed and properly documented.
