Estimator

The Estimator analyzes blueprints, specifications, and project details to calculate the estimated costs of a construction project, including materials, labor, and time required, by creating detailed cost breakdowns to determine a competitive bid for potential clients. Responsible for the administrative coordination of the construction bid process and working in partnership with the internal Estimating Team. The ideal candidate has 2 to 5 years Estimating experience, exceptional communication skills as this role is highly collaborative and requires significant time communicating with clients, vendors, and subcontractors. Candidates should have an acute attention to detail and a strong ability to relationship-build.

Key Responsibilities

• Review request for proposal packages, construction plans, and specifications for trade selection and document distribution.
• Generate bid invitations, contact subcontractors to secure bids, log responses.
• Administration and tracking of bids.
• Review subcontractor proposals.
• Work with subcontractors for value engineering ideas and pricing within a specified time frame
• Write and respond to request for information.
• Compile sub/vendor proposals, review requirements, input total cost estimates for final review and submission to client.
• Maintain and update bidding database.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Excellent communication skills, ability to manage time well, multitask, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• The ability to work under pressure to meet set goals, budgets and deadlines.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an Estimating role.
• Must be able to read construction plans/document specifications.
• Strong proficiency and working knowledge of MS Office Suite, specifically Excel.
• Knowledge of Construction software such as Building Connected, BidMail, OnScreenTakeoff, iSqFt, PlanHub, etc. is preferred.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, building science or engineering or a minimum of 5 years of construction labor/and or estimating experience in lieu of degree.
