Summary
A leading full-service mechanical contractor is seeking Estimators at multiple experience levels, from developing/junior estimators through experienced Senior Estimators, to support a growing pipeline of large-scale construction projects.
The ideal candidate has experience estimating commercial plumbing, HVAC, mechanical piping, or related mechanical construction, with commercial plumbing and HVAC experience strongly preferred. Candidates with experience on multifamily, high-rise residential, commercial, healthcare, education, hospitality, or other large-scale projects are encouraged to apply.
This opportunity can accommodate someone earlier in their estimating career who wants to develop under experienced leadership, as well as a seasoned estimator capable of independently managing complex bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare estimates for commercial plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical construction projects
- Perform detailed material, equipment, and labor takeoffs from drawings and specifications
- Review plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to determine project scope
- Develop conceptual budgets, schematic estimates, and detailed construction pricing
- Estimate plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, gas, fixtures, and equipment
- Support HVAC estimating including equipment, ductwork, sheet metal, piping, and associated mechanical systems
- Solicit and review vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Perform bid leveling and evaluate quotes for scope coverage and accuracy
- Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, exclusions, and potential project risks
- Prepare bid proposals, scope letters, clarifications, and supporting documentation
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, and internal estimate reviews
- Coordinate with engineering, BIM/VDC, preconstruction, operations, and project management teams
- Support value engineering and design-assist recommendations
- Maintain accurate estimating records, historical cost information, and bid documentation
- Assist with estimate-to-operations turnover following project award
Qualifications
- Experience in mechanical construction estimating preferred
- Background in commercial plumbing and/or HVAC strongly preferred
- Candidates ranging from junior/developing through senior-level estimators will be considered
- Experience with a mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC contractor highly preferred
- Understanding of mechanical construction materials, equipment, labor, and installation methods
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and construction drawings
- Knowledge of takeoffs, vendor pricing, labor estimating, and bid preparation
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
- Good communication and organizational skills
