Senior Client Accountant
Location: Madrid, Spain (Hybrid)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
As an experienced professional in the full accounting cycle, you will join a collaborative local accounting team as a Senior Client Accountant. Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, you will be responsible for managing the accounting of a portfolio of client companies, with a focus on a specific sector, as well as supervising junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting, reporting, and preparation and issuance of invoices for multiple entities
Bank reconciliations, preparation and submission of tax returns (including SII), and preparation and review of statutory accounts
Delivery of corporate and accounting services
Preparation of accounts, payments, cash flow, financial reports, financial statements, and cash and tax positions for client companies
Preparation of regulatory reports for third parties
Maintenance of accounting records, including journal entries and supporting documentation
Supporting audits by providing relevant information
Managing, reviewing, and executing clients’ financial administration
Monitoring cash flow: analysing and reconciling movements, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring evidence-based reporting
Preparation and review of financial statement conversions between different GAAPs (e.g. local GAAP and Spanish GAAP)
Reconciling approved investments, purchase documentation, and cash movements
Preparing and reviewing treasury activities, including bank account management and payment instructions
Preparing consolidated financial statements
Gathering accounting information for tax filings and preparing tax submission files for the relevant authorities
Analysing, reviewing, and submitting various tax returns
Reviewing and analysing tax declarations for accuracy and compliance
Managing team workload, ensuring both quality and productivity
Training and supporting team members
Preparing and reviewing financial reports for clients, including periodic balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, and statutory accounts
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within a multi-client environment
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
Strong command of English (B2/C1/C2), with the ability to communicate confidently with clients
Strong presentation skills
High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to manage multiple projects effectively, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure
Proactive mindset and a strong team player
Interest in working in an international and multicultural environment
