Responsibilities
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Perform engineering design services of moderate difficulty under supervision.
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions.
- Prepare conceptual design alternatives.
- Design and prepare engineering drawings for discipline‐specific or multi‐trade projects.
- Prepare outline and final specifications.
- Develop and verify cost estimates and quantities at all design phases.
- Prepare contract drawings and bid documents.
- Participate in design reviews and revise documents accordingly.
- Participate in cost reconciliation and revise contract documents as required.
- Support bid, award, and construction phases.
- Review submittals and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Perform design reviews of documents prepared by others.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years relevant experience in Design of Mechanical and Plumbing related projects, including boiler, gas riser, roof tank, underground steam, water distribution system, etc.
- Engineer-In-Training License or Professional Engineer License preferred.
- Familiarity with Florida Engineering design standards, codes, and industry standards of practice relevant to all aspects of Professional Engineering Design.
- Familiarity and understanding of Contract Documents for Engineering, and
- administration of same during the Construction Phase.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, communication abilities [for both graphics and writing], and project management experience.
- Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, & Microsoft Office capabilities is mandatory; and REVIT and e-Builder experience is desirable. Revit experience is preferred, not mandatory.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Curiosity and interest in continuous learning in AI and comfort experimenting and iterating quickly; uses data to validate ideas and measure impact.
- Commitment to ethical and responsible AI adoption, including privacy-by-design and safe use of tools.
