What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crystal Lake Yacht Club- Racing Water Staff position at Crystal Lake Yacht Club?
Reports to: Sailing Master
Purpose: The water staff is responsible for conducting all the CLYC racing in accordance to the US Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing. Additionally, when not preparing for or conducting races, this team will also assist the CLYC House Manager with tasks around the club. This position requires the individual to be friendly and courteous to club members and guests at all times.
Job Type: Seasonal / Part Time. Begins early June-end of August. Approximately 30 to 35 hours per week. Typical schedule Tues, Thurs, Sat, Sun 9-4. Wed/Fri 12-4. Monday closed.
Skill and Knowledge Requirements:
- Must hold current CPR/First Aid Certification (training provided every even year).
- Must have a Michigan Boating License.
- Power boat operation capabilities encouraged (training is available).
- Experience with lawn equipment, push mowers and grass trimmers required.
Essential Functions:
Work with Sailing Master to fulfill daily activities either listed on the job sheet or by verbal instructions.
- Ensure the club race committee boats are keep clean and fueled
- Identify and report to the CLYC Sailing Director any maintenance issues with any of the boats
- Maintain the racing marks utilized by the club
- Set up and management of the courses used for races
- Perform as a safety boat during races including:
- Pulling sailors from the water
- Assist with the righting of capsized boats
- Towing disabled boats back to the club
- Provide assistance in moving boats around the yard if needed
- Assist with set up for special events (e.g. tables/chairs, etc.)
Additionally, may be required to help the CLYC House Manager with
- Trash
- Court cleanup
- Tennis Court water prep
- General maintenance of club and docks
- Open/Close club - put out/in cushions and tables
- Clean clubhouse and decks
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to move boats around the property, assist with launching of boats and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
