Reports to: Galley Manager
Supervisory Functions: None
Job Type: Seasonal / Part Time. Approximately 20 to 30 hours per week. Begins mid-June through end of August. The typical shift is 9:30am-2:00pm.
Job Summary:
The Galley Staff is responsible for providing friendly, efficient service to club members at our casual food counter, which features salads, sandwiches and other quick service items. This role supports daily Galley operations including food preparation, order processing, and maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace. The ideal candidate takes pride in hospitality, works well in a team environment, and upholds the standards of a private member club. Familiarity with basic food handling techniques preferred otherwise on-the-job training provided.
Essential Functions:
- Member Service: Greet members warmly, take food and beverage orders accurately, and ensure a consistently positive experience for members and guests
- Food Preparation: Prepare and serve menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and food safety guidelines.
- Order & Payment Processing: Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to enter orders and process member payments accurately and efficiently
- Inventory & Restocking: Monitor and replenish food, beverage, and supply levels throughout the shift; communicate low stock to the Galley Manager in a timely manner.
- Sanitation & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitation-compliant workspace including counters, prep surfaces, equipment, and serving areas
- Opening & Closing Procedures: Assist with daily setup and breakdown of the galley as assigned
- Special Events: Availability to assist with member events and functions on an as-needed basis
- Teamwork & Reliability: Work cooperatively with all galley and club staff; report to scheduled shifts on time and fulfill all assigned responsibilities dependably.
Qualifications & Skills
- Prior experience in food service, hospitality, or a customer-facing role preferred; training provided
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional, courteous manner when engaging with club members
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with POS systems; prior POS experience a plus
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation standards consistently
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification preferred prior to first day of work, or obtained within 30 days of hire
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift packages, office products and supplies, up to 10(20) pounds.
