About the Role

As our Facilities Coordinator, you will own the day-to-day reliability, safety, maintenance, and improvement of our Kent facility and assigned operational equipment.

This is a hands-on role where you will respond to issues, perform qualified routine work, coordinate specialized vendors, and follow repairs through to verified closure—ensuring our employees can work safely and critical equipment never sits idle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Issue Resolution: Prioritize and resolve facility and equipment issues, including HVAC and humidity control, plumbing, lighting, electrical, roofs, walls, restrooms, utilities, warehouse areas, tanks, pumps, and forklifts.
  • Hands-On Maintenance: Perform safe routine inspections, adjustments, cleaning, lubrication, minor repairs, and basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting within demonstrated training and authorization.
  • Asset & PM Management: Build and maintain the asset register, risk-based preventive maintenance (PM) schedule, equipment histories, warranties, service records, and critical spare-parts inventory.
  • Safety & Compliance: Identify unsafe, unreliable, or overdue equipment. Coordinate removal from service, lockout/tagout (LOTO), escalation, calibration, verification, or requalification before returning equipment to use.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management: Define service needs, request and compare vendor quotes, coordinate qualified contractors, monitor on-site work, verify invoices, collect documentation, and confirm completion with internal stakeholders.
  • Backlog & Operations Tracking: Maintain a prioritized facilities backlog detailing risk, cost, owner, target dates, status, and evidence of closure. Escalate urgent risks or decisions requiring leadership approval.
  • Operational & Projects Support: Support equipment installations and moves, workspace improvements, seasonal facility readiness, emergency response, and landlord coordination.
  • Quality & Regulatory Standards: Follow the Integrated Management System, Safety Manual, approved operating procedures, purchasing controls, change control, and applicable environmental/quality standards.

How Success is Measured

  • Reduction in aged facilities requests and equipment downtime.
  • On-time completion of preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Decline in repeat equipment failures and avoidable outside-service costs.
  • Accurate, complete, and audit-ready maintenance records.
  • Work verified for safety and quality prior to job closure.

QualificationsRequired

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, equipment maintenance, building operations, or manufacturing support.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read manuals, service instructions, safety procedures, and basic mechanical/electrical drawings.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, recordkeeping, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred

  • Trade school, apprenticeship, associate degree, or certifications in industrial maintenance, HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems, or facilities management.
  • Experience working in a laboratory, diagnostic, food-safety, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing PM programs, contractor safety, LOTO, powered industrial trucks (forklifts), equipment installations, calibration coordination, or repair-vs-replace analysis.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Regular walking, standing, climbing stairs, and using ladders.
  • Bending, kneeling, reaching, and operating hand/power tools.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Comfort working in required PPE.
  • Occasional flexibility for off-hours work during critical repairs or planned shutdowns. (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.)

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
