What are the responsibilities and job description for the Banding Machine Operator position at CRUISERS YACHTS?
Summary:
The Banding Machine Operator will be responsible for operating the banding machine and applying multiple types of banding to the edges of various parts. A Bander Operator is responsible for successful operation of the machines and performs basic maintenance on them. They load and unload materials, adjust settings on the machine, and constantly monitor the production process to ensure that it runs smoothly.
Main Responsibilities:
This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions and may not necessarily comprise all the “essential
functions” for purposes of the ADA.
· Adjust machine components according to specifications such as width, lengths, thickness
· Checks all products for quality and accuracy before and after using machine or tools
· Performs regular routine maintenance on the machines used for job
· Apply edging tape to the raw edges of the wood panels using glue or adhesives
· Set up and operate edge banding machines according to specifications and production requirements
· Feed wood panels into the machine and adjust settings to ensure proper edge banding
· Monitor machine operation and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality, efficiency, and productivity
· Reads and verify orders against the departmental supplies
· Place correct banding into a machine by opening the door on the backside
· Set program on banding machine utilizing computer screen at
· Adjust line feed for the width of boards being placed on the bander machine
· Move part from cart to machine bander
· Clean up the area
· All other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Understands and maintains Cruiser's safety and housekeeping standards
· Understands and maintains Cruiser’s quality standards
· Applies proper procedures
· Ability to read a measuring tape
· Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills
· Able to use tools required for the job (example: hand file, hand cutter, utility knife, tape measure)
· Must be able to work at various plants based on need and ability to travel if necessary
· Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Education and Experience:
· Must be able to pass pre-employment qualifications
· Must be able to read at an 8th-grade level
· On-the-job training
Physical Requirements:
(May be repetitive in nature)
· Must be able to lift 60 pounds at times, and have the physical ability to meet strength and movement requirements for the position
· Wear required PPE and work in a dusty environment
· Must be able to sit or stand for long periods, crawl, walk, carry, squat, kneel, bend or stoop, walk on uneven surfaces, climb, twist at the waist, and reach at or above or below the shoulders
· Lifting (up to 60lbs) and push or pull (up to 60lbs)
· Fine manipulation of one or both hands and be able to grasp with one or both hands
Working Conditions:
· Occasionally works in or around: outdoor weather conditions, mechanical moving parts, and chemical exposure
· Frequently works in or around: high places unprotected, vibration, fumes or gases, toxic chemicals, odors
· Continuously works in or around: dirt or dust
· Noise Level: Loud
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.90 - $18.50 per hour
