What are the responsibilities and job description for the Motor Vehicle Operator position at Crownpoint Healthcare Facility?
The position is located within the Indian Health Service (IHS) in Crownpoint, New Mexico. The purpose of this position is to perform Motor Vehicle Operator duties by operating and performing operator maintenance on motor vehicles to provide safe and efficient transportation of passengers, supplies, materials, and equipment over public roads and within government installations.
A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates for this position will be evaluated under the federal wage system job grading standards for WG-5703. No specific length of experience is required. PHYSICAL EFFORT
Light physical effort is used in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand controls on vehicles operated. When hauling supplies and equipment may be required to lift objects weighing less or more than 50 pounds. When performing custodial duties physical effort is involved in moving and controlling heavy powered equipment, carrying and setting up ladders and scaffolding, etc. Must frequently lift and move objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds.

Responsibilities:
- Operates and performs operator maintenance on one or more motor vehicles, including platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, cargo vans, passenger shuttle vans, ambulances or patient transport vehicles, and similar vehicles, which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 4,500 kilograms (10,000 pounds) and up to 11,700 kilograms (26,000 pounds).
- Drives assigned vehicles to transport passengers, supplies, materials, equipment, or tools, or to tow equipment to various locations.
- Loads and unloads cargo and equipment and determines the order in which materials are placed to ensure proper load balance and stability.
- Performs routine cleaning of patient transport vehicles and passenger vans, including interior and exterior cleaning, to maintain cleanliness and readiness for use. Assists with stocking vehicles with required supplies and equipment in accordance with established checklists and procedures.
- Reports vehicle defects, safety concerns, or supply shortages to the supervisor and completes routine forms or logs as required.
