Schedule Information

• Night shift
• 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• 12-hour shifts
• 10-week assignment

RN – Labor & Delivery Requirements

• Active Kentucky RN license or applicable compact-state license required
• Active BLS certification required
• Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification required
• ACLS certification required if specified by the facility
• Fetal-monitoring credentials that meet facility requirements
• At least one year of Labor and Delivery or OB/GYN nursing experience
• Strong maternal and fetal assessment skills
• Experience monitoring labor progression and fetal heart-rate patterns
• Experience administering medications, treatments, and IV therapies
• Ability to recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies
• Strong clinical-documentation and patient-education skills
• Experience using electronic medical records
• Effective communication and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
• Compassionate, family-centered approach to care
• Commitment to patient safety, infection control, and clinical standards

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to Labor and Delivery and OB/GYN patients.
• Complete comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments.
• Monitor maternal vital signs, fetal heart rates, and labor progression.
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in maternal or fetal condition.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and prescribed treatments.
• Prepare patients and equipment for labor, delivery, and other procedures.
• Assist physicians and other clinical professionals during deliveries and procedures.
• Provide antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum nursing support.
• Respond appropriately to obstetric and neonatal emergencies.
• Support immediate newborn care and neonatal-resuscitation procedures.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans.
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
• Provide emotional support to patients and family members.
• Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation.
• Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary clinical staff.
• Follow medication-safety, infection-control, and facility procedures.
