Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient chairside support.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for patient appointments, following strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), utilizing advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners when needed, while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, accurately documenting treatment details and updating medical documentation.
- Assist with patient intake by taking vital signs, reviewing medical history, and explaining procedures clearly using dental terminology to ensure patient understanding.
- Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phone inquiries as a dental receptionist, and managing medical records with precision.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment by following infection control protocols and ensuring all equipment is properly sanitized.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and understanding dental terminology is essential.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft enhances efficiency in managing patient data.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality of medical records and compliance with privacy standards.
- Experience with medical imaging tools like 3D scanners and X-ray machines is advantageous.
