Shop Mechanic (Forestry Equipment)
Job Description
Crosstrac Equipment is looking for an experienced Shop Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining forestry and heavy equipment. This position requires strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a shop environment.
Responsibilities- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on forestry equipment (harvesters, forwarders, etc.)
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues
- Repair and rebuild components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, and gearboxes
- Perform engine diagnostics (Cummins, John Deere, CAT)
- Work with DEF/SCR and emissions systems
- Use diagnostic software and tools
- Complete service reports and maintain documentation
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Experience working on heavy or forestry equipment preferred
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
- Ability to read schematics and service manuals
- Experience with diagnostic tools and software
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have own tools
- Experience with Komatsu, John Deere, or CAT forestry machines
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Previous shop experience
