Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable, respectful, and professional Removal Technician to assist funeral homes with the dignified transfer of decedents from homes, hospitals, nursing facilities, and other locations. This role is on‑call Thursday noon till Monday noon and requires someone who can respond promptly when contacted. Applicants must be able to work a full 24‑hour on‑call shift, be at least 30 years of age, able to lift and maneuver 200 pounds from tight or confined spaces, maintain a clean driving record, and have no criminal background.
Duties
- Operate passenger vans to do removals and deliveries.
- Plan and follow local driving routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Safely load and unload cots by employing proper manual handling techniques to prevent damage to equipment, the deceases or personal injury.
- Communicate effectively with clients to confirm schedules, provide updates, and address any concerns professionally.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform routine maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, state transportation regulations, and safety protocols during every trip.
Skills
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools and local driving routes for efficient ETA'S.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks associated with loading or unloading items.
- Excellent driving record adhering to traffic regulations and state transportation laws.
- Experience in client communication, punctuality, and managing local driving routes confidently.
- Ability to figure mileage between trips so each client is not overcharged.
- Ability to write clearly so paperwork is readable.
- Ability to follow directions so that each clients expectations are met.
- Ability to work as a team player.
