Position Summary
The Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC Associate) provides high-quality, patient-centered behavioral health services to individuals and families at Crossroads Family Care under the supervision of a Texas Board-approved LPC Supervisor. This role conducts assessments, supports diagnosis and treatment planning, and delivers therapeutic interventions within the associate's competence, supervision agreement, and applicable laws and ethical standards. The LPC Associate supports integrated care, emotional wellness, crisis stabilization, and continuity of care as a member of the clinical team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Counseling Services
- Conduct behavioral health assessments, screenings, and diagnostic evaluations within the scope of the associate license and supervision plan.
- Provide individual, family, and/or group counseling services under required clinical supervision.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in consultation with the clinical supervisor as appropriate.
- Deliver evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive therapeutic interventions.
- Provide crisis intervention, suicide-risk screening, safety planning, and escalation or referral consistent with organizational protocols and supervisory guidance.
- Recognize clinical limitations and promptly seek consultation when patient needs exceed the associate's competence or authorized scope.
Care Coordination & Patient Support
- Collaborate with medical, dental, and behavioral health teams to support integrated, whole-person care.
- Coordinate referrals to internal and external behavioral health, social-service, and community resources.
- Support patients in understanding care plans, addressing barriers, and accessing recommended services.
- Promote patient engagement, follow-up, and continuity of care.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
- Complete documentation and obtain supervisory review or co-signature when required by law, payer rules, the supervision agreement, or organizational policy.
- Comply with HIPAA, HRSA requirements, Texas licensing rules, professional ethics, and organizational policies.
- Follow requirements related to confidentiality, informed consent, mandated reporting, patient safety, and record retention.
- Participate in audits, chart reviews, and compliance activities, and promptly address identified corrections.

Supervision & Professional Development
- Maintain an active supervisory agreement with a Texas Board-approved LPC Supervisor before providing counseling services.
- Participate in all supervision sessions required by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council and the approved supervision plan.
- Prepare for supervision by maintaining accurate experience records, identifying clinical questions, and discussing cases, ethics, documentation, and professional development needs.
- Follow the clinical supervisor's lawful direction and promptly communicate significant clinical, ethical, or patient-safety concerns.
- Accurately represent the LPC Associate credential in professional communications, documentation, and patient-facing materials.
- Maintain responsibility for license renewal, required continuing education, supervision documentation, and timely notification of any change affecting licensure or supervision status.
Quality & Team Collaboration
- Participate in quality-improvement, population-health, and performance initiatives.
- Attend team meetings, trainings, case consultations, and required supervision activities.
- Contribute to a collaborative, respectful, and patient-centered work environment.
- Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards at all times.
Qualifications
Required
- Master's degree in counseling or a related field that meets Texas licensure requirements.
- Current, active Texas LPC Associate license in good standing.
- Active supervisory agreement with a Texas Board-approved LPC Supervisor, or ability to establish an approved supervisory agreement before beginning clinical practice.
- Knowledge of behavioral health assessment, treatment planning, counseling methods, crisis response, and professional ethics.
- Ability to satisfy applicable credentialing, payer-enrollment, background-check, and organizational requirements.
Preferred
- Clinical practicum, internship, or post-graduate counseling experience serving diverse populations.
- Experience in an FQHC, community health center, or integrated-care setting.
- Experience using electronic health record systems and coordinating care across disciplines.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Clinical and office setting with frequent patient interaction; services may be delivered in person or through approved telehealth workflows.
- Regularly requires sitting and using a computer; may require standing and walking for extended periods.
