Position Summary:
The Middle School Performing Arts Director is responsible for leading all aspects of the annual middle school production. This includes visioning, casting, rehearsing, and staging a performing arts show that aligns with the Core Knowledge and Core Virtues Curricula. The annual production is a required activity for all Middle School students. The Director works with other teachers and parents to create the set. Parent volunteers also assist with supervision and some costuming/makeup. This part-time role requires an organized and collaborative individual with experience in theater and working with adolescents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Commitment to Crossroads Academy’s mission, values, and community culture.
• Artistic direction: select or collaborate on the selection of an age-appropriate script; create and communicate the artistic vision of the production.
• Rehearsal leadership: plan and lead rehearsals, manage student schedules, and ensure efficient use of rehearsal time.
• Casting: conduct auditions and cast the show in a manner that considers both student development and production’s needs.
• Production oversight: coordinate with technical staff (lighting, sound, set, costumes) and parent volunteers to ensure all production elements are aligned and progressing on schedule.
• Student mentorship: provide guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback to middle school students throughout the rehearsal and performance process.
• Collaboration: work closely with faculty, school administration, and facilities teams to coordinate rehearsal spaces, performance dates, and logistics.
• Communication: maintain clear and timely communication with students, families, and faculty regarding schedules, expectations, and performance details.

Hours and Attendance:
Seasonal - mid-October through late-March.
2 hours per week with increased hours during the production week
