What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dump Truck Driver / Front-End Loader Operator (CDL Required) position at Crosspoint Group?
Crosspoint Group is seeking dependable, safety-driven Dump Truck Drivers and Front-End Loader Operators to support construction, aggregate, and site development operations in the Knoxville, Tennessee area.
In this hands-on role, you’ll keep materials moving: loading, hauling, and delivering aggregates, soil, asphalt, and debris to and from job sites, quarries, and material yards. Operators who can do both, driving and running a loader, are especially valued, but we welcome candidates strong in either.
If you have a valid Commercial Driver’s License, a strong work ethic, and experience with heavy equipment or haul trucks, we invite you to build a long-term career with Crosspoint Group.
What You’ll Do
- Dump Truck Operation: Safely operate tandem, tri-axle, or end-dump trucks to haul aggregates (sand, gravel, crushed stone), fill dirt, asphalt, and demolition debris between quarries, plants, and job sites.
- Front-End Loader Operation: Load haul trucks accurately and efficiently, build and maintain material stockpiles, and manage yard and site material flow.
- Job Site Support: Spread, dump, and position loads as directed by site supervisors; assist with grading, backfill, and cleanup as needed.
- Load Accuracy & Documentation: Verify load weights and tickets, complete delivery paperwork and logs, and follow scale-house procedures.
- Preventive Maintenance & Inspections: Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (DOT and OSHA/MSHA compliance); grease fittings, check fluids, and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow DOT regulations, weight limits, load-securement rules, and company safety protocols at all times, including spotting procedures and working safely around other equipment and ground crews.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with contractors, site foremen, and plant personnel during pickups and deliveries.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL): Valid Class A or Class B CDL with an acceptable driving record (required for dump truck drivers; preferred for loader operators).
- Equipment Experience: Experience operating dump trucks, front-end loaders, wheel loaders, or comparable heavy equipment (preferred).
- Industry Background: Familiarity with construction sites, quarry or aggregate operations, asphalt paving, or site development (preferred).
- DOT Medical Card: Current or able to obtain (required for CDL drivers).
- Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to perform walk-around inspections, spot mechanical issues early, and handle basic preventive maintenance.
- Reliability: Proven record of punctuality, safety awareness, teamwork, and clear communication.
- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Climb in and out of heavy equipment and commercial trucks repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Sit for extended periods while operating equipment or driving.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, dust, noise).
- Walk, bend, stoop, and navigate uneven terrain, active job sites, and gravel surfaces.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs periodically during maintenance, tarping, and cleanup.
- Early starts and occasional overtime or Saturday work based on project demand.
