The most caring thing you can do for a child who reached 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that principle unsettles you, this position will not be a good fit. If it energizes you because you understand that maintaining high standards is the clearest way to show a student you believe in their capacity, continue reading.

Alpha operates differently from conventional schools. Students complete an entire day's worth of academics in roughly two hours using adaptive software. No classroom lectures. No printed textbooks. Your role centers on what technology cannot replicate: developing life skills in students from Pre-K through 8th grade—skills like public speaking, sustained focus, and constructive feedback exchange. You will spend half your day facilitating hands-on workshops guided by structured playbooks and narrative techniques. The remaining half involves working with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress through adaptive learning platforms via Coachbot analytics, and driving them toward 100% completion of weekly objectives. Students demonstrate mastery through Test2Pass assessments, not participation-based grading.

During your first year, you will manage a designated student cohort and become fluent in Alpha's methodology: life skill workshops, motivational coaching, and mastery-driven assessments. Once you consistently guide every student to 100% goal completion while maintaining satisfaction scores above 90%, advancement to Lead Guide becomes possible—a role where you mentor fellow Guides while continuing direct student engagement. Top performers in this position do more than transform individual trajectories; they influence campus-wide culture and operations.

If you have spent years coaching, counseling, or mentoring young people and have longed to eliminate traditional instructional duties and concentrate entirely on their personal development, this opportunity is designed for you.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skill workshops for Pre-K through 8th grade students covering public speaking, sustained focus, collaborative work, and constructive feedback practices (experiential and project-driven format)
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions where you assess each student's adaptive learning app progress (leveraging Coachbot analytics), establish goals, and drive them toward 100% weekly target achievement
  • Overseeing and evaluating Test2Pass assessments to verify genuine mastery of each life skill, beyond simple participation
  • Tailoring your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from Pre-K learners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing direct, accountable conversations
  • Cultivating authentic relationships with every student so they develop the trust needed to accept your guidance through resistance, distraction, and moments of self-doubt

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Presenting lectures or providing traditional academic content delivery (core subjects are learned through adaptive applications, not instructor-led teaching)
  • Creating original lesson plans or designing curriculum (Alpha supplies structured life skills playbooks; your responsibility is to execute them with energy and compelling storytelling)
  • Handling parent communications or administrative school functions (Campus Leads manage those areas; you remain concentrated on student coaching)
  • Evaluating homework assignments or preparing students for standardized exams (these elements are not part of Alpha's model)
  • Operating independently (you function within a campus team alongside Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who exchange feedback and maintain mutual accountability)

Youth Coach Key Responsibilities

Guarantee that every student in your cohort develops a genuine love for school, achieves mastery of critical life skills, and completes 100% of their academic objectives through adaptive learning technology.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years direct experience working with Pre-K through 8th grade students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program management capacities)
  • Demonstrated experience motivating or coaching Pre-K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, or extracurricular objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the objective, your specific actions, and measurable outcome)
  • Regular, daily use of generative AI platforms (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
  • Availability to work on-site at Alpha's Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands location (relocation assistance available)
  • Current legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports coaching, summer camp leadership, or after-school programming where you held direct accountability for motivating children to achieve defined goals
  • History of exceptional personal achievement (such as academic distinctions, competitive athletic accomplishments, or leadership positions demanding sustained high performance)
  • Innate storytelling capability: you can maintain the attention of a room full of 12-year-olds for an hour without needing to raise your voice
  • Proven ability to engage disengaged or resistant students and convert them into active, motivated participants
