Vice President Campus Design, 2 Hour Learning (Remote) - $200,000/year USD

Crossover
Charlotte, NC Remote Full Time
POSTED ON 12/20/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/14/2026
Certain spaces simply feel right, and you instinctively want to understand why. If you're the type of designer who perceives both granular detail and overarching systems, who gravitates toward physical environments over conceptual mood boards, and who believes that beautiful, functional design can—and must—scale, this role channels your design instincts into tangible outcomes.

We are establishing a nationwide network of 2 Hour Learning campuses. These campuses enable students to complete a full academic curriculum in two focused hours, then dedicate the remainder of the day to passion projects, life skill development, and physical activity. Your mandate is to make these environments remarkable. As the execution lead for interior design across the network, you will establish modular frameworks for spatial layout, FF&E, play environments, and wayfinding systems. You will ensure each standard is delivered with precision at every location. You will visit campuses, identify gaps that others overlook, develop upgrade scopes, and shepherd projects from budgeting through installation.

This role differs from conventional design positions in that it is not isolated from execution. You will not produce drawings and disengage. Instead, you'll be present—troubleshooting installations, coaching vendors, and collecting insights that refine subsequent deployments. If you are prepared to transform your design expertise into national-scale influence, this is your opportunity.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop modular, replicable design frameworks for spatial planning, FF&E, finishes, and play areas that adapt across varied campus contexts
  • Execute on-site evaluations using standardized audit tools to measure adherence to brand benchmarks and identify high-value enhancements
  • Prepare detailed, visually supported, and budgeted upgrade proposals that reflect pedagogical priorities, brand identity, and family experience
  • Supervise vendor implementation on-site, maintaining fidelity to design standards, financial parameters, and project schedules through live quality assurance
  • Document post-installation outcomes, capturing successes and failures, and revising operational playbooks to reflect learnings

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Designing bespoke, unrepeatable spaces that resist standardization or replication.
  • Producing specifications and disengaging from the process. You own accountability from evaluation through installation.
  • Waiting for complete information before acting. This role values proactive decision-making, rapid prototyping, and sound judgment amid uncertainty.
  • Generating open-ended design concepts in a vacuum. All work is tightly aligned with brand principles and operational realities.
  • Operating remotely from a desk. You will spend 50-75% of your time traveling and working on-site.
