Student Excellence Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD

Crossover
Boston, MA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/9/2026 CLOSED ON 8/7/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Excellence Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD position at Crossover?

You understand that refusing to lower the bar is one of the most generous acts you can offer a student. Your résumé includes elite-level achievement—perhaps in competitive athletics, a distinguished degree from a top-tier university, tenure at a highly selective firm, or a venture you launched and grew. Now imagine channeling that discipline into a K-12 setting, working with students who've never encountered someone with your credentials—someone willing to hold them to standards they didn't realize were within reach. If that premise feels too demanding, this opportunity is not for you.

Alpha leverages AI-driven 1-on-1 learning to help students complete core academics in roughly two hours each day. The rest of the day is dedicated to life skills, passion projects, and authentic development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a mentor whose personal accomplishments model what's possible: someone capable of reading the room, anchoring culture, and guiding them through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty.

You will not be teaching. AI delivers the instructional content. Your role is to motivate, coach, and enforce the same exacting standards you've applied to yourself. Forty percent of your time is spent in direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching—diagnosing obstacles and establishing ambitious targets. Another forty percent is dedicated to facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery rather than engagement alone. The final twenty percent involves launching each day with focused morning sessions that cultivate a culture intolerant of mediocrity.

The trajectory here emphasizes depth over management. You begin by mastering Alpha's approach and earning student trust. Within months, you become the person they allow to challenge them beyond their perceived limits. The payoff is not a title. It's continuity—the same students, year over year, maturing with you as their constant. It's seeing a student who avoided eye contact in September deliver a confident presentation to a room of adults by May.

This role remains student-facing. Students are the mission, not a stepping stone. If you're leaving your current position for the mission itself—not the résumé line—apply now.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions informed by Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify blockers, establish ambitious targets, and enforce accountability for execution
  • Facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery, drawing on credible examples from your own elite achievements, and verifying mastery through Alpha's Test2Pass framework
  • Anchoring campus culture each morning via focused kickoff sessions that reinforce high-performance norms
  • Monitoring student progress continuously and refining coaching tactics based on real-time data rather than intuition
  • Cultivating trusted mentor relationships with students and families through unwavering standards, consistency, and formal motivation plans

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering lessons, creating curriculum, or evaluating assignments—Alpha's AI-powered academic system manages instruction; your focus is motivation
  • Addressing a classroom of 30 students at once (your work is intensive, small-group coaching, not lecture-based teaching)
  • Supervising other staff or advancing through administrative ranks (this role centers on direct student outcomes, not organizational leadership)
  • Attending faculty meetings or managing school bureaucracy (your schedule prioritizes student interaction)
  • Compromising standards to meet targets (if a student achieves 99%, your task is determining what prevented 100%)

Student Excellence Coach Key Responsibilities

  • Willing to work in-person at an Alpha campus in Santa Barbara, CA; Santa Monica, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA (relocation support provided)
  • Legal right to work in the United States

  • Experience in high-accountability environments like management consulting, investment banking, or military leadership

  • Comfort presenting to and building trust with high-expectation families paying premium private school tuition
