What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Director, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- Springfield, MA
- $200,000 annual salary
- Health benefits beginning day one
Alpha is opening a new campus in the area, and we're looking for a leader who already knows the city's educational landscape. You will oversee 15 Guides who mentor and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional "teaching". High accountability. Leadership at its core.
Your objective: guarantee every student enjoys school, learns at twice the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life competencies. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will uphold rigorous standards, make decisions grounded in data, and establish Springfield's top-performing school from the start.
Lead through data. Coach for excellence. Apply today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Launch our Springfield, MA campus: Execute Alpha's three core promises for 100 students from the outset with exceptional operational performance across all areas.
- Facilitate live workshops with K-8 students on life skills: Conduct compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Apply Alpha's established framework to ensure students develop skills overlooked by traditional schools while engaging meaningfully.
- Drive every student to reach 100% of their objectives: Create customized motivational strategies for each individual student. Apply data-informed methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student meeting their targets.
- Develop Guides to excellence and maintain Alpha's performance standards: Leverage data to pinpoint performance deficiencies, provide concrete feedback, and monitor progress. Execute difficult decisions when performance is inadequate and model the standard of excellence across your campus.
- Execute data-informed campus leadership: Evaluate performance across personnel, operations, parent engagement, and school culture. Identify issues, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, and deploy measurable interventions. Document all decisions and refine strategies based on outcomes.
- Teaching or tutoring students. Students engage with Alpha's self-directed EdTech platform rather than passive instruction from adults.
- Creating lesson plans or curriculum. Alpha's methodology is already developed. Your focus is implementation and leadership, not curriculum design.
- Overseeing budgets or recruitment. Centralized teams manage finance and staffing. Your attention remains on campus outcomes and culture.
- Serving as the content expert. This position is 80% leadership and engagement, 20% education. You motivate, the platform teaches.
Execute Alpha's three core promises: every student enjoys school, learns at twice the pace, and develops life skills — at a newly launched Springfield campus from the first day.
Basic Requirements

- Comprehensive understanding of the Springfield, MA education landscape.
- Experience working with youth ages 5 - 14.
- Robust data analysis capabilities and demonstrated experience applying metrics to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
- Commitment to transforming education. Conviction that the traditional system is fundamentally flawed.
- Startup orientation: performs well under pressure, flexible in emerging situations, confident building infrastructure from the ground up.
- Dynamic and persuasive communicator who captivates rooms of students or staff.
- Capable of connecting with K-8 students, understanding their interests and culture, and modeling positive behavior.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
