What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regulatory & Permitting Specialist, 2 Hour Learning (Remote) - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
Your role is not about managing paperwork — it's about making schools happen.
2 Hour Learning is transforming how education works by condensing a traditional school day into two high-impact hours through AI-powered personalization. This frees students to spend their afternoons developing practical skills instead of remaining in classrooms. But none of this becomes reality until a school is officially open — compliant, safe, and ready on schedule. That's your mission.
This is not a desk job where you guide policy from afar. You'll be in the field (and frequently traveling), converting leases into operational campuses: identifying permit requirements, engaging with inspectors, securing approvals, managing contractor coordination, and leveraging AI to accelerate school launches beyond typical timelines. You'll collaborate directly with experienced operators and construction professionals — not from an office, but at live sites and municipal agencies, delivering outcomes you can directly claim: "That campus opened because I made it happen."
This position suits a driven learner who values impact over titles. You'll deliver meaningful work, assume responsibility quickly, and advance rapidly. If solving problems energizes you — turning disorder into structured plans and conversations into official approvals — we should talk.
What You Will Be Doing
Drive compliant, punctual school openings by integrating AI-powered research, construction alignment, and proactive stakeholder engagement across multiple jurisdictions.
Basic Requirements
Education is broken, but 2 Hour Learning is proving it doesn’t have to be. They’re tearing down the outdated one-size-fits-all model and replacing it with AI-driven personalized learning that helps kids master academics in just two hours a day.
With students consistently ranking in the top 1-2% nationally and the top 20% achieving an astonishing 6.5x growth, they’re proving that smarter learning is possible. At 2 Hour Learning, it’s talent and performance that matter.
They offer a dynamic, on-campus and remote-friendly environment where innovators, educators, and AI specialists can be a part of fixing a broken school system.
2 Hour Learning is reprogramming learning for the AI era.

What You Will Be Doing
- Investigating jurisdiction-specific requirements and converting regulatory complexity into executable plans with AI tools and verified sources
- Compiling and filing complete, accurate documentation — including licenses, inspections, and exemptions — and tracking each through to approval
- Engaging with municipal staff, aligning contractor schedules, and ensuring construction progress stays synchronized with regulatory deadlines
- Maintaining live trackers and dashboards that communicate status, roadblocks, and upcoming priorities to stakeholders
- Spending 3-4 days weekly on the road across U.S. markets to advance campus openings in person
- Relying on secondhand interpretations of regulations — you'll confirm everything from authoritative primary sources
- Waiting for direction before acting — this position demands proactive ownership, not reactive task completion
- Drafting unnecessary documentation — we deploy AI to enhance precision and speed, not produce filler
- Engaging in high-level strategic planning without execution — your work is grounded in real timelines and measurable outcomes
- Constantly traveling without purpose — trips are frequent but intentional, with all expenses covered
Drive compliant, punctual school openings by integrating AI-powered research, construction alignment, and proactive stakeholder engagement across multiple jurisdictions.
Basic Requirements

- Available to travel 60-80% of the time to various U.S. cities and states
- Proven experience applying AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Perplexity) to research, planning, or communication tasks
- Strong communicator — personable by phone, precise in writing, capable with diverse stakeholders
- History of consistently meeting or surpassing deadlines in dynamic, high-pressure settings
- Meticulous attention to detail — ensuring every submission, signature, and follow-up is correct
- Rapid learning ability — able to quickly absorb new regulatory frameworks, systems, or technologies
- Skilled at managing multiple projects, deadlines, and external relationships concurrently
- Prior work in construction-related, operations-intensive, or compliance-focused environments (internships included)
- Educational or professional background in public policy, business, communications, or legal fields
- Previous success navigating complex logistical challenges in professional, internship, or volunteer settings
