What are the responsibilities and job description for the Expansion and Permitting Specialist, 2 Hour Learning (Remote) - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
This role isn't about filing paperwork — it's about turning a vision into an operational school.
2 Hour Learning is reengineering the traditional school day. Our model delivers a complete academic curriculum in two highly focused hours through AI-powered personalization, freeing students to spend the rest of their day developing practical, real-world competencies instead of sitting through traditional class periods. But none of this transformation can happen until a campus is officially ready — permitted, inspected, and cleared for opening. That's your mission.
In this position, you won't be drafting memos or observing from a safe distance. You'll be in the field — traveling to cities, walking job sites, meeting inspectors, submitting applications, and coordinating contractor schedules to compress timelines and get schools open weeks ahead of expectation. You'll use AI tools strategically to accelerate research and execution, and work directly with experienced operations and construction professionals to deliver tangible outcomes. These are wins you can name: "That campus launched on schedule because I made it happen."
This position is designed for someone eager to own outcomes, learn rapidly, and contribute meaningfully from day one. If you thrive on converting ambiguity into systems, calls into permits, and deadlines into delivered schools, you should apply.
What You Will Be Doing
Enable compliant, punctual campus openings by integrating AI-driven regulatory research, construction timeline coordination, and proactive stakeholder engagement across multiple jurisdictions.

What You Will Be Doing
- Investigating jurisdiction-specific regulations and translating complex compliance requirements into executable action plans with AI-assisted research and primary-source verification
- Drafting and submitting accurate, complete permit applications — including business licenses, fire inspections, health approvals, and educational exemptions — and managing them through to final approval
- Coordinating across municipal staff, contractors, and internal teams to ensure construction milestones align with regulatory timelines
- Maintaining live tracking systems and status dashboards that surface progress, blockers, and upcoming priorities for cross-functional stakeholders
- Traveling 3-4 days per week to U.S. cities to advance school openings through on-the-ground execution and relationship building
- Relying on secondhand summaries or outdated guidance — you'll confirm requirements directly from official channels
- Waiting for explicit direction before acting — this position demands proactive decision-making and self-starter instincts
- Using AI to produce generic text — we leverage it for speed and precision, not filler
- Focusing on theoretical planning — your work centers on delivery, with concrete milestones and measurable impact
- Spending excessive time in transit — travel is frequent and intentional, with all expenses covered
