Reading Specialist, gt.school - $100,000/year USD

Crossover
Orlando, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 5/5/2026 CLOSED ON 6/5/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reading Specialist, gt.school - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?

  • On-site position: Georgetown (Austin), TX. Relocation assistance available
  • Annual salary: $100,000, full-time role. Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage from day one
  • Structured literacy certification mandatory (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, CERI, LETRS, or equivalent)

The most powerful intervention for a gifted six-year-old reading at grade level is refusing to accept that as sufficient. If you carry a structured literacy credential and have spent years witnessing how phonics-based instruction reshapes emerging readers, consider what becomes possible when you direct those techniques toward children who aren't behind—they're simply operating on autopilot. The result isn't incremental growth. They accelerate 5–10x.

At gt.school, you finally deploy your complete skill set. No basal readers. No mandated district sequence. You facilitate small-group early literacy workshops for gifted children ages 5–8, conduct running records, establish your own differentiated groups, and construct each lesson directly from data insights. Adaptive technology manages content delivery. Your role centers on what software cannot replicate: guiding a small cohort of exceptional children to surpass benchmarks they were never expected to reach this academic year.

100% of your students achieve their adaptive software targets. Over 90% rate your instruction highly in surveys. This is the outcome when a certified literacy specialist works with intimate groups of gifted learners without institutional interference. You'll observe first graders who entered at grade level begin consuming chapter books independently. That level of transformation represents what most literacy professionals spend entire careers hoping to witness even once.

If you possess the certification, the phonics mastery, and the belief that gifted children require acceleration rather than enrichment delivered at standard pace, submit your application now.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating small-group phonics workshops for gifted K–2 learners, with each lesson constructed from student performance data rather than scripted materials
  • Conducting running records, evaluating reading levels, and establishing your own differentiated instructional groupings
  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions that leverage school currency, leaderboards, and personal rapport to motivate stretch goals within adaptive applications
  • Monitoring real-time learner progress through adaptive learning platforms and adjusting instruction as data patterns emerge

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering whole-class lectures. Students engage through self-directed applications rather than passive listening
  • Supervising 25 students. Your focus remains on small cohorts of gifted learners
  • Adhering to district pacing calendars or preparing students for standardized assessments
  • Teaching subjects outside reading and writing (math, science, and social studies are not included)
  • Developing IEPs, attending committee sessions, or managing school district administrative processes

Reading Specialist Key Responsibilities

Accelerate gifted K–2 students to years of reading progress in a fraction of the time through adaptive tools and targeted phonics instruction.

  • Experience assessing reading levels, forming instructional groups, and designing differentiated instruction without a pre-written curriculum
  • Experience working directly with gifted or high-performing children (gifted & talented program, academic summer camp, or specialized school)
  • Proficient with AI/adaptive learning tools and able to interpret student performance data
  • Willing to work in-person at the GT campus in Georgetown (Austin), TX. Relocation support provided.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Orton-Gillingham or multisensory structured literacy training beyond basic certification
  • Experience with adaptive reading platforms (e.g., Lexia, Raz-Kids, or similar K–2 software)
