Alpha School invites you to design and implement an AI-enhanced reading program that delivers more measurable student progress in 2 hours than conventional schools achieve in an entire day. You will create adaptive workshop formats, interpret live student performance data, and partner with engineering teams to develop literacy solutions that extend your influence to hundreds of learners.
This position integrates direct student instruction with forward-thinking curriculum design, allowing you to mentor individual readers while constructing a replicable framework for foundational literacy across our expanding network of campuses.

What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating adaptive reading workshops focused on building core competencies in phonics, fluency, and comprehension
- Creating individualized motivational strategies that engage students and foster enduring enthusiasm for reading
- Reviewing student performance metrics to iteratively improve instructional methods and generate practical insights
- Working alongside engineering staff to assess and refine AI-powered literacy platforms
Literacy Coordinator key responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree plus advanced certification in reading instruction (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or equivalent)
- At least 2 years of experience conducting small-group reading interventions with early elementary students
- Capable of evaluating reading proficiency, organizing student groups, and creating differentiated instruction independent of pre-packaged curricula
- Comfortable using AI/adaptive learning platforms and adjusting instruction based on student interaction patterns
- Authorized to work legally in the U.S. without sponsorship requirements
- Available to work on-site at one of our locations: Chantilly (Washington), VA; Lake Forest (Orange County), CA; San Francisco, CA; Miami, FL; or New York City, NY

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $60 USD/hour, which equates to $120,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
