Instructional Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD

Crossover
Fort Worth, TX Full Time
POSTED ON 5/5/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 7/27/2026
  • $100,000 annual salary, paid weekly, with health, dental, and vision coverage from day one
  • Full-time on-site at one Alpha campus location: Phoenix, AZ; Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, Fort Worth, Houston (South Houston or The Woodlands), or Plano, TX; Park City (Salt Lake City), UT; or Dorado, Puerto Rico (relocation assistance available)
  • 40-hour workweek, entirely classroom-based with K-2 students

You've dedicated years to becoming an expert in structured literacy. You hold credentials in Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master's in reading instruction. You can identify a student's miscue and pinpoint the exact phonemic skill gap. You can build a phonics lesson from scratch without a scripted curriculum. That level of expertise is expected. It's the baseline, not what sets you apart.

What distinguishes you is that young children are genuinely excited when you enter the room. At Alpha, this position prioritizes being a Guide: a dynamic, engaging presence that students genuinely enjoy learning with. Your structured-literacy background opens the door; your capacity to captivate a K-2 classroom for a 20-minute session is what secures the offer. If "dynamic, engaging presence" doesn't align with your natural style, this role isn't the right fit.

Alpha has fundamentally redesigned traditional education. Students work through academic material independently using AI-adaptive applications — no traditional lectures, no textbooks, no district pacing calendars. Your position represents the one area where human expertise cannot be replaced. You create small-group reading sessions based on live student performance metrics, and you facilitate motivation activities that push 100% of students toward their weekly app targets using Alpha's proven motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, developmentally appropriate gamification).

Your initial months focus on building rapport and credibility. Sessions must be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective. Student satisfaction metrics and "love your Guide" feedback surveys (targeting 90% approval) provide direct measurement. As you establish success, your responsibilities expand: analyzing AI-generated performance insights to inform subsequent instruction, communicating fluency improvements and decoding progress to families, and contributing to how Alpha's K-2 reading framework develops alongside adaptive technology. As Alpha opens additional campuses, the systems you create will serve as the national template for reading instruction.

Before extending an offer, you'll submit a brief video sharing an engaging story appropriate for young children, and you'll complete a full on-campus day working directly with K-2 students. Low energy with children will disqualify candidates regardless of credential strength. This is intentional. Submit your application today.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Creating and facilitating small-group K-2 reading sessions rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent), informed by live student performance data
  • Conducting daily motivational activities that support 100% of students in reaching their weekly adaptive-app targets, leveraging Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, developmentally appropriate gamification)
  • Conducting and evaluating running records, fluency assessments, and decoding evaluations to monitor progress and refine instruction for upcoming sessions
  • Analyzing AI-generated performance metrics from Alpha's adaptive learning platforms to differentiate instruction dynamically, not solely during advance planning
  • Serving as the approachable, enthusiastic adult presence your K-2 students are excited to see each day

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Implementing a commercial reading curriculum, scripted lesson plan, or district pacing calendar; you develop your own instruction based on student data
  • Delivering whole-class lectures; all teaching occurs in small, targeted groups while students complete core subjects through adaptive applications
  • Serving as a reading consultant, instructional coach for other educators, or district-level specialist; you work directly with children in the classroom daily
  • Managing a traditional classroom schedule — subject-by-subject lectures, homework correction, test preparation; your time is allocated to workshops, motivational sessions, and data-informed small-group instruction
  • Grading assignments or generating report cards; student advancement is tracked through app analytics and your assessment records

Instructional Coach Key Responsibilities

Provide structured-literacy instruction that produces measurable acceleration in K-2 reading performance across phonics, fluency, and decoding skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline, plus at least 2 years of full-time K-2 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment, utilizing systematic phonics or structured literacy
