What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Educator, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site at Alpha School campuses: Austin, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Houston, Texas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Park City (Salt Lake City), Utah; Phoenix, Arizona
- $100,000/year with weekly pay. Full health benefits start immediately
- Relocation assistance provided
Alpha operates differently from conventional schools. Academic learning happens through adaptive software tailored to each student's pace. There are no traditional lectures, no worksheets, no standardized pacing for all. Your role is to ensure a small K-2 cohort looks forward to arriving each morning, achieves their weekly learning targets, and develops life competencies many adults still lack.
You'll facilitate interactive workshops covering public speaking, concentration, and feedback literacy with children aged five, six, and seven. You'll guide students as they work through learning applications—not by providing solutions, but by cultivating the problem-solving mindset they need to persevere independently. Success means 100% of your students reach their weekly targets and 90% report that they genuinely enjoy working with you.
This position is not about supervising children using computers. It's accountability-driven coaching where student advancement is measured, every session produces quantifiable results, and your effectiveness is reflected in data rather than sentiment alone. If you're convinced children have unlimited potential and traditional schooling constrains them, this is your opportunity to demonstrate it.
What You Will Be Doing
- Leading one-hour life skills workshops for a small K-2 cohort on subjects including public speaking, concentration, and feedback literacy
- Guiding students through adaptive learning applications by teaching them strategies to overcome obstacles rather than supplying direct answers
- Conducting motivation sessions using Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, goal-setting) to ensure 100% of students reach their weekly learning objectives
- Administering and delivering mastery-based assessments (Test2Pass) to verify students have genuinely mastered each competency
- Reviewing curriculum and lesson materials daily, then adapting your approach based on individual student profiles, interests, and performance metrics
- Teaching academic content to a full classroom or delivering traditional lectures (students complete academics via apps; you facilitate life skills and motivation)
- Creating original lesson plans or building curriculum (Alpha supplies curriculum and instructional playbooks; you deliver the execution and enthusiasm)
- Accepting lower standards when students encounter difficulties (Alpha's methodology requires every student to reach mastery; 90% proficiency is not acceptable)
- Handling parent correspondence or managing campus operations (those responsibilities belong to the Campus Lead)
Guide a small K-2 student group to develop life skills and achieve their academic targets each week.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any field
- At least 3 years of experience working with children ages 4 to 8 in education, afterschool programs, coaching, or similar settings
- Experience leading structured activities for groups of young children that combine clear expectations with high engagement
- Willingness to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Austin, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Houston, Texas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Park City (Salt Lake City), Utah; or Phoenix, Arizona
- Able to attend a paid training program at our Austin, Texas campus
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Background in youth sports coaching, theater instruction, or camp leadership where you maintained both engagement and accountability standards
- Experience leveraging data or analytics to monitor student or participant outcomes and modify your methods accordingly
- Demonstrated ability to receive feedback and make observable changes to your working style in response
- Knowledge of growth mindset coaching methods or positive behavioral frameworks for young children
