What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Parent Advocacy, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site (multi-city)
- W2
- $200K/yr
You will become the person they reach out to when uncertainty arises, when something doesn't feel quite right, or when they want to share a milestone they know you'll appreciate. You will understand each family deeply enough to sense what they need before they voice it—and you will possess the judgment and poise to address whatever they bring with care, warmth, and seamless ease. Over time, you will become more than a representative of their child's school. You will become woven into the way they navigate this phase of their family's journey.
That depth of trust is not built through systems. It emerges through presence—daily, steady, and unhurried. You will be visible during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, at evening gatherings that count, and in the private conversations that rarely appear on any schedule. You will cultivate a community families want to protect, where connection feels natural and referrals arise because the experience warrants them.
Alpha operates differently from conventional schools. Students complete their core academics in two hours per day using AI-powered applications, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical thinking, and hands-on projects. No lectures. No filler assignments. Top 1% outcomes nationally. The families who enroll are investing in something they value—but that conviction requires nurturing.
You will sustain that dialogue with every family, through every moment of uncertainty, for the duration of their child's enrollment. If articulating an unconventional approach to discerning skeptics feels taxing, this position will not suit you. If it sounds like the most compelling conversation you could engage in, continue reading.
What You Will Be Doing
- Serve as the relationship anchor for every family on campus—the sustained, evolving connection that ensures parents feel recognized, not merely attended to
- Identify potential concerns before they surface as issues, and address them with the tact and interpersonal skill that preserves confidence
- Maintain a visible presence where families gather: morning drop-off (7–9am), afternoon pick-up (2–4pm), evening parent gatherings, and select weekend engagements
- Develop a campus culture with meaningful depth—events, rituals, and interactions that foster a sense of belonging to something families value protecting
- Encourage parent advocacy through authentic means, delivering experiences of such consistent quality that referrals emerge naturally
- Sustain the dialogue about Alpha's AI-driven approach with families managing screen time questions, skeptical relatives, and occasional uncertainty—not only during enrollment, but across their entire campus experience
- Recognize when a family is not aligned with the community and manage that situation with the same care you apply to all interactions—safeguarding the community is part of your service to it
- Establish the frameworks and routines this position demands in a setting where the structure is still emerging
- Overseeing enrollment—that falls to the Admissions Director; your responsibility begins once families join and grows from that point forward
- Operating from a desk—your visibility within the community defines the role
- Keeping standard 9–5 hours—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening programming are integral to the position, not occasional demands
- Depending on administrative infrastructure, established workflows, or a fully staffed team—you function with substantial autonomy and create what is necessary
- Viewing family relationships as transactional accounts—this role values authentic engagement, not procedural adherence
Serve as the trusted relationship at the heart of each family's Alpha experience. Sustain their confidence through challenging moments, cultivate a community where belonging feels meaningful, and establish the conditions under which satisfied families naturally become active advocates.
Basic Requirements
- Currently live within commuting range of one of these campuses OR prepared to relocate within 60 days (preference given to candidates with established local community ties): Scottsdale, AZ; Denver, CO; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Bethesda, MD; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; Park City, UT; Chantilly, VA; or Kirkland, WA
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without need for sponsorship
- 5 years in a client-facing role serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropy, or similar environments where discretion, warmth, and interpersonal sophistication were as critical as competence
- Proven capacity to maintain relationships through challenging situations with discerning families and sustain trust throughout
- Authentic presence and communication approach that builds confidence quickly with affluent, high-expectation families—credible without appearing rehearsed
- Direct familiarity with independent, private, or non-traditional education—through professional experience or as a parent—that provides you genuine credibility when families question the approach
- Sincere conviction in AI-powered education and the capacity to uphold that belief authentically across years of parent engagement, not solely during enrollment discussions
- Flexibility for non-standard hours: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening programming 2–3x/month, and periodic weekend activities
Exceptional candidates will possess at least one of the following:
- Established connections within the local affluent community that would provide you immediate, organic credibility on campus
- Private school or independent school background with a demonstrated history of family retention and community cultivation—not simply enrollment metrics
- Experience managing high-stakes family dynamics where your judgment and discretion were the reason confidence endured
- A talent for designing experiences—events, moments, settings—where people feel they are part of something worth safeguarding
- Prior startup or early-stage exposure where you built from the ground up and maintained composure through rapid change
