Academic Success Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD

Crossover
Boston, MA Full Time
POSTED ON 5/26/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/16/2026
You believe that refusing to lower the bar is the kindest thing you can do for a student. Your background includes competing, building, or achieving at a level most people only encounter through books: elite athletic performance, graduation with distinction from a top-tier university, a role at a highly selective firm, or launching a venture from the ground up. Now imagine channeling that intensity into a classroom of K-12 students who have never had someone with your credentials backing them, holding them to standards they didn't realize they could meet. If maintaining elite standards for students strikes you as too demanding, this role isn't for you.

Alpha leverages AI-powered 1-on-1 learning that enables students to master core academics in roughly two hours each day. The remainder of their time is allocated to life skills, passion-driven projects, and authentic development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a trusted mentor whose personal accomplishments establish the benchmark: someone capable of assessing group dynamics, establishing expectations, and guiding them through resistance, distraction, and moments of self-doubt.

Your role is not instructional. AI manages the academic content delivery. Your responsibility is to motivate, coach, and maintain the same exacting standards you've applied to yourself. Forty percent of your time involves direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching to identify obstacles and establish ambitious objectives. Another forty percent is spent facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery rather than engagement. The final twenty percent is dedicated to morning sessions that set daily expectations and build a culture where mediocrity has no place.

The trajectory here emphasizes depth over advancement. You begin by mastering Alpha's approach and earning student trust. Within months, you become the person students rely on to push them beyond their perceived limits. The payoff isn't upward mobility. It's continuity with the same students, year after year, as they mature with you supporting them. It's witnessing a student who avoided eye contact in September confidently address a room of adults by May.

This position remains student-focused. Students are the mission, not a pathway to something else. If you're seeking to leave your current role because of the mission itself, not the credential, submit your application now.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching using Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify obstacles, establish ambitious targets, and ensure student accountability for execution
  • Facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery by drawing on credible examples from your own elite background, then evaluating mastery using Alpha's Test2Pass framework
  • Establishing the campus culture each morning through focused sessions that reinforce high-performance standards across the student body
  • Monitoring student advancement in real time and modifying coaching approaches based on evidence rather than intuition
  • Developing trusted mentor relationships with students and families by maintaining high expectations, demonstrating consistency, and documenting motivation strategies

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering lessons, creating curriculum, or evaluating assignments — Alpha's AI-powered academic platform manages instruction; you manage motivation
  • Presenting to a classroom of 30 students (your work centers on high-touch coaching with small groups, not large-scale instruction)
  • Supervising other staff or pursuing an administrative career path (this role focuses on direct student impact, not organizational advancement)
  • Attending faculty meetings or dealing with institutional bureaucracy (your time remains concentrated on students)
  • Compromising standards to meet targets (if a student achieved 99%, your responsibility is determining what prevented 100%)
