What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Success Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD position at Crossover?
You believe the greatest act of kindness toward a student is to maintain rigorous standards. You have competed, created, or excelled at a level few people ever experience firsthand: elite-level sports, graduation with distinction from a top university, entry into a highly selective firm, or a venture you launched and grew yourself. Now imagine channeling that same drive into a classroom of K-12 students who have never encountered someone with your caliber of achievement, someone determined to hold them to expectations they never imagined reaching. If upholding elite standards feels too demanding, this role is not for you.
Alpha employs AI-driven 1-on-1 instruction, allowing students to complete their core academics in approximately two hours per day. The remainder of the day is devoted to life skills, passion projects, and authentic personal development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose track record establishes the benchmark: someone capable of reading the environment, establishing the culture, and guiding them through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty.
Your role is not instructional. AI delivers the academic content. Your responsibility is to motivate, coach, and hold students to the same rigorous standard you have applied to yourself. Forty percent of your time is spent in direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching, diagnosing obstacles and establishing ambitious objectives. Another forty percent involves facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery rather than engagement. The final twenty percent is dedicated to morning kickoffs that set a daily tone where mediocrity is unacceptable.
The trajectory here emphasizes depth over advancement. You begin by mastering Alpha's approach and earning students' trust. Within months, you become the person they trust to push them beyond their perceived limits. The compensation isn't a title change. It's the privilege of working with the same students year after year, remaining in their corner as they mature. It's observing a student who struggled with eye contact in September confidently address a room of adults by May.
This position remains student-centered. Students are the purpose, not a pathway to something else. If your motivation to leave your current role is the mission rather than resume enhancement, submit your application now.
