Role details

PSI-Polymer Systems is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a small team of approximately 3–4 engineers designing custom machinery and equipment for the plastics extrusion industry.

This is a working manager position. The Engineering Manager will oversee engineering projects and provide direction to the engineering team while also actively participating in design work, troubleshooting, and project execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide daily direction to a team of 3–4 engineers
• Manage engineering workload, priorities, and project schedules
• Actively participate in mechanical design and engineering projects
• Review and approve drawings, designs, and project documentation
• Design and develop custom machinery and mechanical systems
• Work closely with Manufacturing and Sales to ensure equipment meets customer requirements
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot design or equipment issues
• Assist with continuous improvement and product development
• Support and develop engineering team members
  
  

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical engineering and machine design experience
• Previous engineering leadership, supervisory, or project leadership experience
• Experience designing custom machinery, industrial equipment, or similar mechanical systems
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software; Autodesk Inventor experience preferred
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerances, materials, and mechanical components
• Basic understanding of industrial electrical systems, motors, sensors, controls, and electrical schematics
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable managing engineers while remaining actively involved in engineering projects
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field preferred
  
  

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Regular overtime, nights, and weekends are not required.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys both design work and leading a small engineering team in a custom machinery environment.
