The Coating Line Technician is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining Roll-to-Roll coating equipment used to apply functional coatings to films, substrates, or specialty materials. The Coating Line Technician is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining Roll-to-Roll coating equipment used to apply functional coatings to films, substrates, or specialty materials. This role supports production by ensuring coating processes run safely, efficiently, and within quality specifications. The technician will assist with line setup, material preparation, process monitoring, and troubleshooting to maintain consistent coating performance.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Coating Line Operation:
- Line Setup & Material Preparation.
- Prepare substrates, coatings, adhesives, and other materials for production runs.
- Set up coating heads and application systems prior to production.
- Assist with product changeovers and cleaning between runs.
- Inspect coated materials during production for defects such as streaks, bubbles, wrinkles, or uneven coatings.
- Measure coating thickness, weight, or other product specifications.
- Record process parameters and quality inspection data.
- Notify quality or production leadership of deviations.
- Assist with adjustments to improve coating uniformity and line stability.
- Support process engineers during trials, new product introductions, or pilot runs.
- Communicate equipment or process issues to maintenance or engineering teams.
- Follow company safety procedures, quality standards, and PPE requirements.
- Comply with ISO QMS requirements.
