Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

This position supports the accounting efforts of CCO with a special focus on accounts payable. The Accounting Specialist performs daily accounting tasks and assists the Controller with maintaining accurate records.

Key Objectives for success:

  • Accurate and timely posting of all accounts payable invoices
  • Daily tasks performed as assigned

Essential Functions:

  • Review accounts payable invoices for appropriate documentation prior to processing
  • Process accounts payable invoices, obtaining appropriate authorizations and entering general ledger data accurately
  • Reconcile and review monthly credit card statements
  • Daily bank deposit
  • Prepare check and credit card donation data for entry into accounting software
  • Gather data and post monthly allocation entries
  • Reconcile donation information between accounting and donor management software
  • Assist staff with maintaining accurate records for grant reporting
  • Assist Controller with various month end and administrative duties
  • Continually develop knowledge, skills, and competence in accounting by participating in educational and training opportunities

Work Hours:

CCO offers flexible scheduling options for staff, allowing them to choose between a typical Monday through Friday schedule with five eight-hour days or a modified schedule with four nine-hour days and a half-day on Fridays. Occasionally, program needs may require different schedules, including evening or weekend hours. Supervisors will regularly discuss schedules to ensure coverage of program needs, and employees must always obtain prior approval from their supervisor to change their schedule.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree preferred or minimum of two years related experience
  • Ability to accurately utilize ten-key
  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct or other accounting software
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external church sponsors, donors, clients, vendors and the public.
  • Ability to communicate with others, have excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, always displaying a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision and on deadline.
  • High proficiency using computers, including Windows operating systems and the Microsoft Office software suite.

Applicant must successfully complete a drug screening, background investigation, and driver record check.
