Position: Building Code & Permitting Specialist

Compensation: $65-$90 per hour

Role Responsibilities
- Review and label construction documents, permit applications, site plans, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with building codes.
- Identify and classify code requirements, jurisdictional rules, and compliance elements across different regions.
- Audit annotated datasets for accuracy and alignment with local, state, and national building codes.
- Evaluate AI-generated outputs for correctness in permit requirements, zoning constraints, and code compliance.
- Define annotation guidelines for interpreting building codes and jurisdictional differences.
- Provide structured feedback to improve regulatory reasoning and accuracy across jurisdictions.
Requirements
- Candidates should have strong familiarity with building codes, permitting workflows, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Experience as a Permit Expeditor coordinating with city agencies, submitting permits, and managing inspection processes is preferred.
- Candidates with a background as Architects should possess strong knowledge of building codes, design compliance, and plan preparation.
- Experience as Government Reviewers or Plan Examiners reviewing and approving permits within municipal or state agencies is highly valued.
- Deep expertise in one of the following jurisdictions: California, Texas, or Florida is required.
