Responsibilities
- Coordinate dispatching activities by assigning freight loads to drivers and carriers using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure on-time deliveries.
- Communicate effectively via multi-line phone systems, managing high call volumes with professionalism and courtesy while providing accurate information.
- Maintain detailed records of shipments, delivery schedules, and driver logs through data entry in systems like AS400 and transportation management software.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to plan transportation routes considering supply chain constraints and freight requirements.
- Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with safety standards.
- Assist with fleet management tasks including vehicle scheduling, maintenance coordination, and tracking using GPS data.
- Provide analysis on transportation performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvements.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS technology, and transportation planning principles.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Excellent communication skills with phone call management expertise and phone etiquette.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Data entry accuracy combined with typing proficiency for maintaining detailed logs and records.
- Familiarity with logistics concepts including freight handling, shipping & receiving, and fleet management.
- Experience with analysis skills for evaluating transportation data to improve dispatching processes.
- Ability to operate multi-line phone systems, AS400, and other relevant software like 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) platforms.
