Position: Software Developer (Python/ROS2)

Contract Length: 6 months

Location: North Hollywood, CA

Blue Origin is a leader in space technology, committed to enabling millions to live and work in space. We are seeking a Software Developer (Python/ROS2) to support advanced systems that bridge software development and hardware integration in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Software Developer (Python/ROS2) Responsibilities

• Develop, provision, and validate Python/ROS2-based systems using COTS hardware
• Design and maintain device drivers to ensure optimal system performance
• Improve provisioning workflows through automation and scripting
• Perform software checkout, troubleshooting, and debugging on testbeds and hardware
• Drive system reliability and performance enhancements across integrated platforms
  
  

Software Developer (Python/ROS2) Qualifications

Required:

• Strong proficiency in C/C (embedded, RTOS, Linux) and Python (automation/tools)
• Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 and Git-based collaborative workflows
• Demonstrated debugging and troubleshooting across software and hardware systems
• Experience with scripting, automation, and instrumentation or data acquisition systems
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment
  
  

Preferred:

• Experience with Ansible, Bash, or similar automation tools
• Background in hardware/software integration and embedded systems
• Familiarity with EtherCAT, motor drivers, or control systems
