OSP Engineer Responsibilities
- Design upgrades, repairs, and enhancements for aerial, underground, buried, and customer premise outside plant networks.
- Utilize engineering systems such as Canvas, vBuild, CCP, ICGS/IDDS, NTAS, and CLLinet to deliver network solutions.
- Manage high-capacity engineering for ASR/CNE case work, including cabling and equipment layouts for service-driven orders and fiber-to-the-cellsite builds.
- Conduct field surveys to identify network equipment, cable paths, space, and power needs.
- Collaborate with builders, property managers, and end users to negotiate service requirements.
- Evaluate costs and select optimal designs within budgetary limits.
- Ensure compliance with NYS and local DOT permitting processes and timelines.
- Coordinate with internal teams and oversee engineering tasks through to completion.
Required:
- In-depth knowledge of outside plant high-capacity and fiber network engineering processes.
- Hands-on experience with tools like Canvas, CCP, IDDS, and other engineering systems.
- Availability to travel within the Capital Region and surrounding areas including Columbia, Greene, Oneonta, and the Canadian border.
- Strong fieldwork and site survey experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments independently.
- Familiarity with state and local permitting standards and associated lead times.
- Proficient with Windows-based software and enterprise systems.
- Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Previous experience with IEN tasking.
