Electrical Planner III (Nuclear)

Location: Richland, WA (Onsite)

Schedule: 4x10s (40 hrs/week)

Duration: 12-month contract (strong extension potential)

Openings: 2

Pay: $65–$81/hr (based on experience)

Per Diem: ~$216/day (≈ $79K/year tax-advantaged for qualifying non-local candidates)

Role Overview

You will plan and prepare electrical work packages supporting projects and maintenance activities at a commercial nuclear power plant. This role ensures work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with nuclear procedures, codes, and regulatory standards.

You will work cross-functionally with maintenance, engineering, operations, and supply teams to drive work from planning through execution while minimizing delays and maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed electrical work packages for maintenance, modifications, and capital projects
  • Perform field walkdowns to validate scope, materials, and execution plans
  • Define required procedures, drawings, materials, and resources for each job
  • Support procurement and recommend materials needed for execution
  • Prepare and submit required documentation including RWPs, ALARA plans, and regulatory support materials
  • Ensure compliance with NEC codes, plant procedures, and nuclear standards
  • Collaborate with Work Management, Engineering, Operations, and Supply to resolve issues
  • Participate in scheduling, planning meetings, and work control processes
  • Review and approve work packages to ensure safety, quality, and technical accuracy
  • Support troubleshooting, risk assessments, and clearance order reviews
  • Lead or support peer reviews and provide planning guidance to other planners

Required Qualifications

  • Commercial nuclear power plant experience required
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear work management and planning processes
  • Experience with electrical systems, maintenance planning, or engineering support
  • Working knowledge of:
  • NEC codes and standards
  • ALARA principles
  • Nuclear safety and regulatory requirements
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving ability
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Education and Experience (one of the following):

  • Bachelor’s degree 6 years relevant experience
  • Associate’s degree 8 years experience
  • High school diploma 10 years experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Work Environment

  • Onsite at an operating nuclear facility
  • Highly structured, safety-driven environment
  • Requires strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Compensation and Benefits

Pay & Per Diem

  • $65–$81/hr based on experience
  • Per diem ≈ $216/day
  • Roughly $79K/year in tax-advantaged income for non-local candidates

Paid Sick Leave (Washington State)

  • Accrual: 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked
  • Accrual is uncapped, with carryover allowed year to year
  • Typical accrual: ~52 hours per year based on a 40-hour schedule
  • Usable for personal illness, medical appointments, or family care
