Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, root canals, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage electronic health records using Dentrix for accurate documentation of patient histories, medical records, and treatment plans
- Provide chairside assistance by handling dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy knowledge to support efficient patient care
- Collect vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse; monitor patient comfort throughout procedures
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and understanding dental coding for billing purposes
- Operate advanced equipment like 3D scanners while ensuring proper maintenance and calibration for precise imaging
- Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment adhering to infection control standards and aseptic techniques
Experience
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with a focus on general dentistry
- Demonstrated proficiency in dental assisting duties including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and managing medical documentation
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar platforms is advantageous
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security
- Hands-on experience with infection control practices, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques in a clinical setting
- Ability to interpret dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding for accurate recordkeeping
- Experience working with specialized fields such as prosthodontics or endodontics is preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills suitable for interacting effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics
