Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) Nights (Freeport, Illinois)

The organization is seeking a Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to provide acute care for patients requiring continuous monitoring. This role includes caring for patients such as stroke and cardiac admissions, including post heart cath recovery and arrhythmia management, with specific attention to drip administration and documentation. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

• Schedule: Nights; 12-hour shifts; minimum 36 hours per week


• Required Qualifications:
  
  
  
  • Licensure: Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (license required to submit)
  
  
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  
  
  • Clinical Skills/Experience: Drip experience; 2 years of recent experience in Cath Lab post-recovery care (femoral/radial) and stroke care (stroke care preferred)
  
  
  • Additional Requirements: Phlebotomy certification is a plus

• Responsibilities:
  
  
  
  • Provide direct patient care for telemetry patients, including stroke, congestive heart failure (CHF), acute coronary syndrome (ACS), coronary artery disease (CAD), post heart cath recovery, and arrhythmia management
  
  
  • Administer and manage prescribed drips, including titration requirements where applicable (including heparin titration)
  
  
  • Utilize central telemetry workflow as applicable, including signing off on strips
  
  
  • Participate in department-required orientation (department-specific orientation is provided)
  
  
  • Support unit coverage needs, including scheduled shifts most in need and unit-based assignment expectations
  
  
  
  


• Schedule Requirements: Every other weekend; holiday rotation


• Float: Float may be required to intensive care unit (ICU), medical-surgical (MS), or emergency department (ER) settings within scope

  • Telemetry unit coverage includes monitor tech responsibilities for central telemetry; charge nurse has patient assignment; nurse supervisor (NSO) does not
  
  
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio varies by day/night acuity (45 patients on days; 56 patients on nights); certified nurse aide (CNAs) support is acuity-dependent (2 CNAs)
  
  
  • Respiratory support may include BiPAP and high-flow therapy

  • Department orientation includes 2 additional 12-hour shifts
