Job Summary:
A Step Down Unit Nurse located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This role involves providing specialized care for high-acuity cardiac and cardiothoracic patients in an acute care setting. The position requires experienced registered nurses to manage complex patients recovering from surgical procedures, with a focus on cardiac and vascular care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, starting on 07/27/2026, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a registered nurse; certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); minimum of 1 year of experience in a progressive care or step-down environment; located within 25 miles of the facility.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with pre/post heart patients, including stents, pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), and vascular procedures; familiarity with titratable and non-titratable drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, nitroglycerin, and integrilin.
- Additional Information: The unit is a heavy cardiac and cardiothoracic care setting, with high-acuity surgical patients. Nurses may be required to read their own telemetry strips; telemetry monitors are managed by unit techs. Charge nurses on nights may take one or two patient assignments. Nurse aides are present with ratios of 1:8 during the day and 1:12 at night. There may be float requirements in rotation with permanent staff. Scrubs are navy blue, and orientation consists of 2-3 shifts.
