This opportunity is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Units, located in Omaha, Nebraska. The position involves providing care in a 28-bed unit focusing on oncology and trauma patient populations. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The role involves working 12-hour shifts starting from June 8, 2026.
Job Details:
- Location: Omaha, Nebraska
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts with the following times: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 48 hours
- Required Qualifications: Valid driver's license at submission, at least 2 years of experience as an RN, certifications including ACLS and BLS (American Heart Association), and ability to work with EPIC electronic medical record system within the last 6 months.
- Preferred Qualifications: Chemotherapy certification preferred, experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, Aline, Swan, EV-1000), ICP management, and titration of drips such as insulin and Cardizem.
- Unit Details:
- Patient population: Adults with oncology and trauma diagnoses
- Ratios: 1 RN to 4 PCU patients during the day, 1 RN to 5-6 patients during night shift
- Common patients: Oncology, trauma
- Support staff: Nursing assistants, case managers, social workers, educators, dieticians
- Equipment: EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Lyko lifts, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring devices, electronic fetal monitoring (EFM)
- Additional Information:
- Orientation: 2 days
- Float policy: Float within same level of care (PCU, Oncology, and MedSurg units)
- RTO: Upfront approval for 7 days or less per 13-week contract, no additional RTO requests accepted
- Shift notes: Self-scheduling, scrubs in navy blue, charge nurse support available, hands-free communication not specified
