Job Summary
Registered Nurse Medical Surgical Floor. This acute-care position provides nursing care for a diverse patient population, including cardiology, surgical oncology, urology, and complex medical-surgical cases. The role includes 12-hour day shifts, telemetry monitoring, and participation in an academic environment focused on teaching and continuous learning.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shifts are 12 hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Self-scheduling is available based on unit balancing.
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; license required for submission; minimum of 2 years of experience; ability to care for a wide variety of patients.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a charge nurse or house supervisor; willingness to precept and learn in an academic environment.
- Additional Information: The unit provides care for cardiology, surgical oncology, urology, and complex medical-surgical patients with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:56. Registered Nurses are expected to read basic telemetry strips. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, and holiday coverage may be required. Artificial nails are prohibited in patient-care departments. Unit-specific orientation is approximately 12 days.
