Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) Easton, Maryland
The organization is seeking an Emergency Room RN to support a fast-paced emergency department environment caring for patients across all age ranges, from infant to geriatric. The role includes rotating day/mids scheduling based on departmental needs and requires proficiency in high-acuity, multi-system care with variable patient diagnoses. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Rotating day/mids shifts with 12-hour shifts; minimum 36 hours per week, using 3x12 or 4x12 scheduling as accepted.
- Required Qualifications: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland (Medical Doctor/Compact licensure accepted at time of submission); Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) (completed during onboarding); National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (completion and/or certification requirements as stated); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (NRP or American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) accepted as stated); Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) (if listed as required); two (2) years of experience; previous charge experience required; patient ratio experience required (including familiarity with 1:4 and up to 5 with lower acuity); charting system experience required with Epic experience; community hospital experience required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level I or Trauma Level II experience is not specified as required in the posting.
- Float: Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: Every other weekend is required. Holidays are required as they fall, as scheduled. Pre-scheduled on-call shifts are not required. Rotations are based on departmental scheduling needs, with primary coverage currently for day shift. Interdisciplinary support is available, including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Unit Secretary.
- Key Clinical Skills/Focus Areas: Includes emergency department care across adult/pediatric patients and competencies such as triage, emergency medications, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, intubation, management of ventilated patients, central line care/management, chest tube insertion/management, BiPAP/CPAP management, initiation and maintenance of IVs, administration of blood products, interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias and patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, and care of patients with mental/behavioral health conditions (including psychiatric hold and management of violent behavior), among other listed skills.
