Job Summary:
An Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing patient care in a trauma level II emergency department with a high acuity, fast-paced environment. Candidates are required to bring their licensure on the first day of assignment. The position emphasizes resilience, independence, and the ability to manage change effectively.
Job Details:
- Location: Wausau, Wisconsin

- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Schedule: 36 hours per week, with every other weekend and holiday scheduled off
- Contract Length: 13 weeks with the possibility of extension
- Required Certifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) License, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) ARC or American Heart Association (AHA)
- Required Education: Associate Degree or Certificate; Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years RN experience, with at least one year of travel experience, and trauma level II experience; no minimum experience required for consideration
- Certifications and Licenses: Valid Wisconsin RN license, BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS
- Additional Information: This role is in a very fast-paced environment with 3-4 patients per nurse. The unit features EPIC electronic charting, Pyxis medication dispenser, in-house lab, RN-led labs and nebulizer treatments, in-house respiratory therapist, and onsite radiology staff. Flexibility to float to other locations such as Merrill, Antigo, Medford, and Stanley may be required.
- Responsibilities include drawing labs, administering neb treatments, and managing a diverse patient population, including neuro, cardiac, pediatrics, and geriatrics.
- Scrub colors are flexible.
- Additional operational notes: During flu season, travelers who decline vaccination must wear masks at all times as per facility policy.
