Crooks Memorial UMC in Yorktown is seeking a loving, mature, individual with experience in childcare to serve as our Nursery Coordinator. This position is paid hourly with at least 2.5 hours every Sunday morning. Other hours vary based on need for special programs, services, studies, etc...
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
The Nursery Coordinator is responsible for providing and ensuring the safe, loving, and nurturing care of the children in Crooks’ nursery. Nursery children will range from infant through 5 years (unless otherwise specified) on Sunday morning and infant through 12 years for other occasions.
Responsibilities:
- Arrive at 8:45 a.m., prepare and ready space to welcome children.
- Remain until the last child has been picked up by a parent or guardian following the Worship service.
- When appropriate prepare activities to share the story and love of God with the children. Pastor or Dir. of Children and Family Ministries will assist with material/resource needs.
- Supervise in the nursery:
- During Sunday School and the Sunday morning worship service (estimate: 8:45-11:15am).
- As requested for special events/activities, such as Bible Studies, non-Sunday services or performances, Vacation Bible School, etc…
- Adhere to Crooks’ Child Protection Policy in relation to child/staff ratio, volunteer recruitment, etc…
- Work with pastor and staff to secure volunteers to assist during Sunday school and the Worship service when adult/child ratios require.
- Provide identifying name tags for adult Nursery workers.
- Ensure that children’s belongings are properly labeled.
- Communicate with parents regarding special needs.
- Record attendance and ensure use of “sign-in/sign-out” sheet.
- Ensure nursery is safe and free from broken toys or furniture.
- Ensure nursery is clean after each use, including the use of cleaning products on surfaces and toys.
- Communicate with the Dir. of Children and Family Ministries regarding concerns or requests, including needs, personal absence, etc…
- Coordinate with the Dir. of Children and Family Ministries to secure an approved substitute for all absences.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Childcare skills and knowledge of basic first aid techniques.
- Subject to background investigation.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
